 I purchased the wrong model for my Yamaha digital piano September 2, 2008
Not the seller's fault, but mine. This model GW-US54Mini2W does not work with the Yamaha Clavinova CVP-307 digital piano it was intended for. So, I haven't even used it. It does not work with the piano. I hope I can exchange it for the right model GW-US54GXS, since the purchase was from the manufacturer distributor.

awesome i own 2 of these they work great could not have a better product have gone threw 2 belkin and i 2wire witch is why i baught the second one of these works great and never have to mess with it
Works with XLink Kai and PSP, Vista SP1 x64 Drivers (and maybe x86) do not work! July 28, 2008

This item works great when being used on 32-bit XP, however I could not get this device to work on 64-bit Vista SP1. The Vista SP1 driver provided by Planex simply does not work as of July 28, 2008. This might be fixed in the future.
I did not try to install this device on Linux, but I have read reports that it is difficult.
Make sure to read the XLink Kai forums. They have tutorials on how to install and use this device under various system configurations. Do not follow their advice on force installing XP drivers for Vista SP1, this can (as in my case) permanently break the drivers for this device.
Horrible device July 23, 2008
I did NOT like the crap this device put me thorough. It fights with my current wireless adapter that I used for my computer's internet. It just is not user friendly whatsoever and trying to get the computer to recognize the device is like pulling teeth. Windows refused to recognize the device even after the drivers were installed and I have to force windows to take those. Had to play "Which usb slot" because none of the 8 that's on my computer recognized it twice in a row... More than a headache, it's an ulcer. DOES NOT WORK WITH XLINK KAI!

I normally have enough knowledge and persistence to get common tech devices to work, but not so on this occasion. You should take the negative reviews seriously regarding poor documentation and the difficulty in finding adequate help online.
There are two common uses for the Planex Mini2. You can (1) plug it into a computer to allow it to connect wirelessly to the internet. Or you can (2) plug it into your computer to allow a gaming device to connect wirelessly to the internet. I was going for the second usage option, as one of my sons has a Nintendo DS and another has a Sony PSP. We already had a wireless router, but neither gaming device works with the highest recommended security settings. Getting this USB adapter was supposed to be our solution. Too bad I couldn't get anywhere with it.
Was the Mini2 defective? Incompatible with something on my WinXP system? Or did I simply use the wrong settings? After wasting part of a Saturday afternoon, I decided it wasn't worth the time and effort to sort it all out. So back to Amazon it goes.
